Inaugurated on July 14th, 2007 within the “Friedrich Teutsch” Center for Culture and Dialog, the Museum of the Evangelic C.A. Church in Romania constitutes an important space of re-membrance and the experience accumulated over centuries of existence of the Evangelic Church of Augustan Confession. One of the high-est interest spots of the exhibition is represented by “vasa sacra” – the thesaurus composed of pots and various other valuable objects which were used to celebrate the Holy Communion. These were created between the 14th and the 18th cen-tury in the workshops of the Transylvanian goldsmiths, among which master Sebastian Hann, originating in Sibiu. The works of art of Transylvanian gold-smiths and silversmiths include chalices decorated with the technique of the filigree enamel, the so called “modo transsilvano”. Documentary films and recent interviews about the history and the present day status of the Transylvanian Saxon population living in the villages of Southern Transylvania are available to viewers in the multimedia area of the exhibition.
