SIGERUS, Emil

1854 -1947

Born in Sibiu in 1854, Emil Sigerus is the most important Transylvanian  ethnographer at the end of the 19th century. Founder of the Carpathian Museum (Muzeul  Carpatin) that was later included in the Brukenthal Museum, this important personality is  known especially for his research of Saxon, Romanian and Hungarian traditional objects, folk  costumes from around Sibiu.
